The Supreme Court said on May 19 that the GST council's recommendations were not binding on the Union and states. However, they do have a persuasive value because of the country's cooperative federal structure. A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant, and Vikram Nath also stated that the Centre and states had concurrent rights to legislate on GST, but that the council must work together to reach an acceptable solution. According to Article 246A, both Parliament and the state legislatures have equal authority to legislate on taxation issues.

NEW DELHI : The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on Tuesday said that the due date for filing form GST return-3B for the month of April 2022 has been extended till 24 May.

The due date for filing GST return-3B for every month is the 20th of the next month for businesses with sales more than ₹five crores. Accordingly, April returns were to be filed by 20 May and the tax authority’s order gives them extra time.

A technical glitch has been reported by Infosys in generation of April 2022 GSTR-2B & auto-population of GSTR-3B on portal. Infosys has been directed by Govt for early resolution. Technical team is working to provide GSTR-2B & correct auto-populated GSTR-3B at the earliest.
