CBI Arrests CGST Nashik Superintendent in Rs 5 Lakh Bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Superintendent of CGST & Central Excise from the Nashik Commissionerate on October 14, 2025, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 5 lakh. The case was registered after the accused reportedly demanded an initial amount of Rs. 50 lakh, which was later negotiated down to Rs. 22 lakh, to refrain from taking legal action against a private company concerning an IGST input matter.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Superintendent of CGST & Central Excise from the Nashik Commissionerate on October 14, 2025, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 5 lakh. The case was registered after the accused reportedly demanded an initial amount of Rs. 50 lakh, which was later negotiated down to Rs. 22 lakh, to refrain from taking legal action against a private company concerning an IGST input matter. The accused directed the complainant to deliver Rs. 5 lakh immediately and the remaining Rs. 17 lakh three days later. A trap was laid on October 14, 2025, and the Superintendent was apprehended outside his Nashik office while receiving the initial bribe payment. Subsequent searches of his residential and official properties resulted in the recovery of an additional Rs. 19 lakh in cash and various incriminating documents. The arrested official was presented before the jurisdictional court in Pune on October 15, 2025, and was remanded to Police Custody until October 17, 2025.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Superintendent, CGST & Central Excise, Nashik Commissionerate, Nashik while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from the complainant.

CBI registered the instant case on 14.10.2025 against the said accused on allegations that the accused initially demanded undue advantage of Rs. 50 lakh for not taking any legal action against the complainant in the IGST input matter of a private company which was subsequently reduced to Rs. 22 lakhs by him.

It was also alleged that the accused directed the complainant to deliver Rs. 5 lakh on 14.10.2025 and remaining Rs. 17 lakhs on 17.10.2025.

CBI laid a trap on 14.10.2025 and caught the accused red-handed outside his office at Nashik while accepting undue advantage of Rs. 5 lakh from the complainant. The accused has been arrested on 14.10.2025.

Searches were conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused which led to recovery of Rs. 19 lakh in cash and incriminating documents

The arrested accused was produced before the jurisdictional court at Pune on 15.10.2025. The Hon'ble Court remanded the accused to Police Custody for two days till 17.10.2025.
